Easy to use interface and dashboard allows you to quickly see how different partners are performing. "Goal" options allow you to see positive ROI goals and current progress. The automated payouts to partners based on their performance is super valuable and makes running an affiliate program pretty hands of. If you already have a large affiliate program that is making good revenue, ImpactRadius' monthly cost with no added transaction fee is great for you.
The pricing is pretty high for a product that is basically a glorified js tracker with some automated ACH payments. We hoped and were told during the sales cycle that the marketplace would have plenty of partners that would be a great fit for us. Realistically, the marketplace is filled with foreign "coupon" websites trying to make a buck on pushing your promo code. If you are growing an affiliate program, or looking for new partners, other affiliate program products might be best for you to start. While other programs and services usually have per transaction fees, the monthly cost is usually way lower.
We were trying to find additional strategic partners that worked for our affiliate program. If you are looking for your store and promo codes to be scattered across the internet, this is for you. If you are looking to find meaningful partnerships that might work for your product, ask the sales team for more examples (as you will not be given access to look at the marketplace listings before the dotted line is signed). We were able to give our existing partners a piece of mind working with us as all payments were automated and accounted for.
For unique partnerships and affiliate agreements, Impact has the most comprehensive collection of capabilities. The option to create private-feeling program registration links and pages, as well as payout flexibility and thorough reporting, are the company's greatest differentiators.
There are only two things that come to mind when I think of dislikes: — If you're not familiar with it, it can be challenging to utilize. It becomes easier with good help center content. — Finding an affiliate and sending an offer is difficult; Discover's search tools aren't yet sophisticated enough.
Solved issues: — How to connect with a large number of publications Benefits realized include: — A cost-effective method of web advertising (SAAS fee model is very efficient and aligned with our goals)
Impact has the most robust set of tools for custom partnerships and affiliate relationships. Its biggest differentiators are payout customization, deep reporting, and the ability to have private-feeling program signup links and pages.
Dislikes are few and far between -- the only two things that come to mind are: -- It can be challenging to use if one isn't familiar. Good help center articles make it less complicated. -- There's no easy way to find an affiliate and send an offer; the search tools in Discover aren't robust enough yet.
Problems solved: -- How to connect with publishers at scale Benefits realized: -- Cost-effective way to advertise online (SAAS fee model is very efficient and aligned with our goals)
The toolset is extremely powerful. Impact offers an extreme amount of flexibility to structure performance deals in any way you can negotiate one. Whether you're offering a straight rev share, hybrid deals with CPM + Rev Share, CPC or sponsorships with an upside based on sales, Impact can accommodate pretty much any deal structure. The analytics and reporting offered are great as well with a wealth of stock reports and the new Data Lab that lets you build out custom reports. Our team has also been great about building out custom reports for us if needed.
The terminology can be a bit confusing for some partners as Impact initially based their terminology on more of a media model. This can sometimes be confusing, especially with influencers or affiliate partners migrating from other network tools. The linking bookmarklet for publishers should feature short "vanity" links vs longer redirected links.
Impact's attribution reporting has helped us get a much more holistic view of the value of publisher traffic by giving us an understanding of how publishers traffic interacts with multiple publishers in the click path as well as giving insight into how publisher traffic interacts with other channels. We're also able to build out reward structures based on these interactions. We were also able to effectively fix our platform costs vs our previous affiliate network relationship and lower our tracking/payment costs dramatically.
Customer support is responsive, and we have also received an account manager. However, none of this helped.
If you think Impact will help you increase your product sales, you are most likely wrong. Yes, there are a few good quality media outlets/influencers listed on Impact, but these will never respond to you or accept your request. Other than that, the plaform is filled with "influencers" and portals of extremely low quality with close to zero traffic and cheap websites that you don't even want to be associated with. Also, most of them are from 3rd world countries. Impact has failed to do absolutely any background check on their listed partners. That is not all - many of the registered partners are not people interested in promoting products. Instead, they are companies trying to sell you either affiliate program management services or other promotional services for high fees. We have also tried to bring influencers from outside of Impact and our impression is that the affiliate market is extremely oversaturated - no decent partner wants to work on affiliate only basis (e.g. getting % from the sale). Instead, they all require a flat fee on top the % from the sale, which makes the whole collaboration unprofitable for you. If you still want to try an affiliate program for your brand - at least choose one of the free/low-fee platforms without long-term commitment. We have signed a 12-month contract with Impact with a high monthly fee, and now we're stuck with it.
Impact offers an existing network of affiliates, however most of them are of exteremely low quality.
Handles payments to partners. Snapshot of performance.
Buyer's journey is impossible to see without costly add-ons to the main product. Marketplace created a lot of manual work by not allowing filters to prevent inappropriate and/or fraudulent partners in the marketplace to apply. Have had to turn it off because even though we have ways on our end to find and eliminate the fraudulent affiliate, chargebacks are costly and when it is on, I have to manually vet the applicant to ensure they are not fraud. Only 1/3 of the applicants are viable for our program and the amount of time to vet out the rest is too time consuming. It would be better for us to have the ability to search the marketplace for who we want to reach out to and filter out the ability for anybody and everybody to apply to our campaign. I can't search Marketplace unless I make us visible in Marketplace.
Solved issue on our end of not having a dedicated team to keep the platform going. Although the reports are not giving us the correct data (tracking issues on our end as well as how the data is collected on your end) , I feel the reports would be a huge benefit.
They have a persuasive sales team that will convince you that Impact is the solution you need.
They lock in businesses into annual agreements with no flexibility. The prices are exorbitant and not in line with the market at all. The minimum monthly fees make it impossible to work with and will hit you no matter what happens. Your business is locked in an agreement. The UI is outdated and looks like something from the late 90's. It's tough to work with. There are many bugs, and extracting reports will make the platform crash half of the time. Impact is basically an "entreprise" sales company. This is not what modern companies in the DTC and e-commerce space should work with.
Impact managed our affiliate partnerships and influencer marketing.
The Impact platform relies heavily on premiere analytics and the ability to customize partnerships at a very granular level. You can essentially set up partnerships using rules and conditions that are unique to each partner. It is extremely flexible.
Robust fraud detection are not included as part of the base subscription fee. Overall, upsell fees for new features (better fraud detection, better analytics, better influencer discovery, etc.) are frustrating considering the premium price for this network.
Two reasons we moved to Impact: 1) better in-app tracking capabilities for affiliate partnerships given more complete tracking abilities across web and in-app and 2) flexibility of custom contracts.
