Simple API, which is quick and easy to pick up. Adding items to Indices and is instantly available for search. Having the ability to update single values in the object allows for quick safer updates. Support staff are friendly and knowledgeable, which is always a bonus. The API has a very powerful query language which makes it much simplier to build up the right results which are relevant to the area which I am trying to get the user to focus. Being able to see what users have searched for is a big plus area for us. We can use this data to better refine our data and see areas which our supporters are showing interest in. This in turn helps improve user engagement.
When making changes in the dashboard, it is possible to update based on a previous version of the object. You need to ensure manually that the object is at the latest version before editing. While this has caught me out a couple of times overall, there is not much to dislike about the service.
I needed to add search to an in-house donation platform, plus give aggregated data to the user quickly and efficiently. As I built up the platform's integration to Algolia, the benefits became more and more evident. Since the first implementation, we are now looking at expaning the usage to our main website and importing our articles for searching and generating results for related content. We have been able to identify that by using Algolias machine language learning on our data will vastly improve site visitor engagement.
Algolia handles all the indexing of products in real-time, removing a potential server load item that can negatively impact performance.
A Woocommerce extension used to be available in the past but has stopped development. It would be great to have this extension available again to make the build process quicker and easier for any users who may be non-developers.
Faster website performance, and massively improved search functionality, including ajax real-time search results and typo handling. Advanced filtering for ignoring specific pages you want excluded from the search index is also an excellent feature. Offloading of the indexing of data with a fairly hands-off approach is acheiveable once setup correctly.
Search results on the website can be optimised for customers; we can see search results and curate products accordingly. Can update ranking and also see most viewed products. Once enabled facets can also be enabled and disabled from the Algolia panel itself. Also all the documentation for the initial setup was very clear and easy to understand. We have no trouble understanding the API documentation and the support from the team was also very good in cases when we had doubts.
The initial integration is a little tricky, needs good development support for integration into the existing website. But overall not a challenge; the website is currently running smoothly. Adding and removing facets is not very straightforward as we need an extra step to remove them. Another suggestion is to provide more reports and data, which we can further use to help with conversions. The current dashboard is also a bit cluttered. For developers, it is okay, for an end-user like a E-Commerce Manager, access to dashboards which can show straight-forward buttons and also reports which show insights can be of much help as they can then use the same data for making business decisions.
Search results used to be a mess before Algolia; now, it's very optimized for the customer; we have a much deeper understanding of the customer data and can curate products for them in search. Better search results for the customers lead to better product visibility that the customers want and better conversion rates. We are only into 40 days of use of Algolia on the current website; already we see good conversion rates, we will be able to tell more in the coming months on the same
Extremely fast - the results come in with a minimal latency after searching thousands of records. For small projects, this is ideal to use as data storage. The Free tier is very generous.
Lack of data export from UI (although very quickly done via code).
Seamless integration with existing tools. I can import searchable data from other data sources via simple SDK. I loved that I spent very little time learning the SDK and instead focused on my requirements only. The management UI is fantastic! Everything just works, very smoothly and responsivley.
The search experience is amazing.. no crash related to that.. the weekly insights
The pricing to be honnest.. being billed to the greatest number between search requests and records is a little bit too much.. we use algolia to search users by name.. we aim for millions of users so the price keeps scaling
Because we use firebase.. which doesn't support full text search algolia has helped by allowing typo tolerance.. case insensitivity..
I'm using Algolia to index my blog post (both Hebrew and English) I was amazed at how quickly everything word, starting from indexing to on-site integration. The search results are quick, relevant, and support many types of Typos Easy to seperate between indices Analytics and query reports are really useful.
Pricing could be a bit heavy for non-professional users. If you need to cross to the more advanced payments tiers, it could get quite expensive.
quick search, typo correction, no-code and no-infra solution for search. Wordpress default search is quite bad and doesn't support any form of modern search. I wanted a solution with no additional infra costs, and without setting up my own Elasticsearch cluster. Algolia solved it perfectly.
Algolia is by far the best service for searching. Super easy to configure and use.
The new price policy i think is much more expensive. I preffer the legacy.
We use Algolia to index our products and serve the best search experience for our customers.
Great documentation and the features provided by the algolia. specially how it intergrates with framworks such as laravel, flask etc . . . and most impotantly the incredible search it provides. also amount of customization it has it incredible. i was able to fine tune the search engine to provide the best solution and search results that my customers expected. ai ranking is very good. custom ranking was easy to use. from php/laravel i was able to customize the data models uploaded to the algolia. also happy with the speed it works.
the web ui is bit slow and sometimes does not update data displayed. it uses react so its bit heavy. also php documentaion support is not updated in some time. its still showing old php documentaions. documentation is veavily fragmented to the point some times its very hard to undestand or make sence of it.
used algolia in a project to improve search of thar application suite. using algolia we could tune the algorithem to our liking and was able to hit the standars we were expecting. by using cutome rankings we tuned the search algorithem to do out biding. results was withing out expectation and beyond. overtime we saw a increase in site traffic and algolia usage. we also were able to utilize the algolia provided analytics to further improve the search rankings to our liking.
The best of all is the ease of integration with your project, both to the back and front, and how easy it is to build the queries.
That it does not have a pay per use as firebase does, you only have 2 options, the free account or the payment commitment, use or do not use all your operations for which you are going to pay
Thanks to Algolia, I integrated a search system in my project made with Angular / Fire. Now I am thinking of integrating its geo-search. Hopefully, it will be as good as your search with firestore.
Their main product works perfectly. But what I especially like about the company is their transparency to their customers and their engineering blogs helping others build amazing products. Reading their blog posts how they solved a complicated technical issue is a really good learning experience.
It can be a little confusing what everything does, but you grasp it quickly.
We haven't actually deployed Algolia just yet, but it is being implemented for our SaaS platform.
It's straightforward to use and very effective. It takes away all the pain coming from maintaining a dedicated search database. The best part of the Algolia was React UI Library It has such a perfect and fully customizable UI library. You don't have to worry about the connection between you and Algolia. Instead of that, you can focus on the connection between the customer and you. It has a UI library for Vue, angular, android, ios. Next, the best part is the facets. Facets let you create categories on a select group of attributes, so your end users can refine their search. With faces, it barely takes any time to add a new category or deliver those categories to the end-user. Another part of Algolia like is demos. Algolia provides out-of-box one-click demos for your indexes, so you can try and test your index structure before implementing it into your main UI.
The first thing I saw when I looked at Algolia was dynamically sorting is not a thing at all. You have to make a "replica" of the same index if you want to sort it by different fields. Honestly, copying a whole index to sort by only one different field was come scary to me. But now, when I look back, it didn't come like a spooky thing like it used to before. Other than that. Algolia is perfect.
You don't have to maintain a dedicated server just for indexing and search. Not only financially. Algolia also has DSN features with multiple regions, so search result is always under 100ms most of the times.
I like the speed that I can implamnt a complex test search at a low price and high performance and accuracy. The fast ramp-up and implementation are very impressive, which is my go-to solution for this kind of task. I like the framework and the React components that they provide to connect the search in your application, such as the backend implementation that was for most of my clients just writing two firebase cloud functions that reflect the changes in the database and move it to Alolia. The indexing speed for extensive scale data was super fast, and the search yield accurate results almost right away. Also, the tutorials on the web were helpful, and I understood that a large community uses this product, and I am in the right way. Also, the firebase official docs recommend using this tool for this specific problem that I was facing. All of that - but the best part is the low amount of code you need to deploy and maintain to get this result.
The free tier is very generous, but some clients needed more time and large-scale opportunities to see the system in action on live production data. Also, sometimes the customer raised concern about having two sets of databases, one for search and one for operations, as to migrate the existing one to Aloliga was a big task.
I used Algolia to solve a problem., I use Alogolia as a database for open text search that in some databases don't have this capability in the desired standards and perfonce. Many of my clients use Firebase firestore that doesn't have free text search (some as other limitations). In many apps, this is a critical feature of the system. I hooked up Algolia to the firestore via Firebase could function, and now I can offer a free text search to my clients
Really easy to understand how everything works and you see the results right away on the web. Plus the support team answers really fast so i have all the answers back right away.
I guess it just would be nicer as a big company that we would have 1 of our own people from Algolia that will answer the questions we have and maybe give some advice as a person who knows what algolia can make with our web
The top products in categories, synonyms for easier results, and little personalisation on web.
I signed up for Algolia's Docsearch product, and it couldn't be simpler. I gave them the URLs to my documentation, and they set everything up and it works like a charm. I also like the weekly reports because they tell me what people search for and what's missing from my documentation. That makes it easy to see which parts I can improve!
Sometimes it takes a while for Algolia to index new pages, but it's never too long.
Algolia makes my app documentation searchable with a nice interface that also blends in well with the design of my documentation. Users use my documentation more, leading to fewer support questions.
Algolia is a must-have when it comes to search and faceted navigation. I deployed it on some project, and all my clients were amazed about how fast and relevant it is. I used it for global autocomplete search, global search experience, and faceted search. It's always a WOW effect. It brings so many features that you don't need to develop that the price is almost a detail.
There are no real downsides. Everything is here to help a freelance developer like me.
Algolia solves all search-related problems. You create your index; it does all the rest of the job for you.
Whenever something is wrong, Clemente immediately follows up with a helpful solution
A little bit difficult to customize docsearch visually
Allowing users to search our documentation
Algolia provides a full full-text search service. Beside other search technologies that require an infrastructure, Algolia has everything ready to be used. You only have to define the content, and the rest of the solutions "just works" instantly.
Nothing. It is great from everything possible angle. You have widgets and libraries to cover everything you can ask and more.
We have implemented Algolia in our sites and we are also selling extensions for Joomla based on Algolia. We are currently integrating Algolia on sites based on the idea of promoting Instant Search and Autocompletion for Sites. We are developing connectors for Algolia. No more complications than the connector configuration.
It's easy to create an Algolia account, easy to implement and test it and superobust and scalable. There is basically no limit to what you can do. The onboarding was really smooth and self explanatory. The flexibility of Algolia is perfect. The analytics dashboard is great and offer deep insights about our business. It's super easy to update your indexes and very safe for our data. There are a lot of ressources availables to create the right search tool for our activity. The safety of Algolia is great and it makes sure nobody can steal your data.
Nothing, to be honest, I like it all. I'm an Algolia fan. I don't see anything that is not useful and needs to improve for the time being. So keep going, Algolia; you're doing good! I can't wait to see what's coming next in the future releases.
To create my search tool with customizable parameters and collect analytics to help me grow my business. It took us 30 minutes to be up and running. Support has been helpful and very reactive when needed. Algolia has helped us improve our user experience and scalability.
The almost no time when performing a search and the automatic pre-flight request with the most searched terms. With that, the user has the best experience ever The fact that you can have insights for the searches performed by users and based on that you can tailor the results
The documentation on React implementation could be a little bit more updated to the current versions. For example, using hooks instead of classes and have more configuration options for styling and custom components It will be nice to have a sandbox where you can test new implementations, for the moment I'm using a different index with a _dev on the name. Having multiple envoirments or a sandbox will help a lot during development
- Being able to perform searches by locale in no time and have insights on those searches - Having a multi index search across different types of information - Rank the products depending on what users like - On a near future, implement AB test in order to promote products
