My favorite thing about Supermetrics is the support I get when I run into an error, it's simple for me to reach out and gain insight immediately on how to problem-solve. The Supermetrics team is always involved and interested in finding a solution, I never feel like they just throw a link at me and expect me to figure it out. This partnership is a great addition to the platform in itself. I always recommend Supermetrics to clients.
The only thing about Supermetrics that I dislike and that sometimes is a turn-off for clients is the price. The recent change in pricing does make it hard to sell to others who don't have the budget. However, I feel this is a tool that is necessary for businesses if they want to view all of their data in one place, which is much easier than chasing down multiple platforms.
We are developing client-facing dashboards that help our clients understand their goals and KPIs in an easy way that they can refer to at any time without having to contact us about a specific report. This saves time internally and for our clients.
Supermetrics connects to almost any marketing app which is great if you are looking to pull data from multiple sources. We use the tool to build automated reporting dashboards in Looker Studio. It works great once you've figured out how to connect it all and Supermetrics allows us to pull data from additional sources like several social media platforms which don't offer any native connections to Looker Studio.
The interface is a bit confusing and probably could be simplified a bit. It also takes a while to understand the differences between the pricing plans, included app connections and features to work out what plan you'll actually need and how much it will cost. I'd say the tool is a bit pricey for what we get out of it, but I haven't found anything offering anything comparable at a better price. Unfortuntely our app connections disconnect fairly frequently, which means I have to re-connect individual apps quite often.
Extracting and aggregating data from several marketing apps that we use, in particular from social media platforms, to populate automated marketing reports. Without Supermetrics we couldn't run autmated reports on all marketing channels.
I like that it is easy to pull all my pay per click, Search engine optimization, social, and analytics into an automated report.
I dislike all the different pricing and charges. I wish it was just one flat fee per month for all the usage, not different prices for different uploads per month.
The business problems I am solving with supermetrics is being able to create one large report with all the different analytics. With Google Data Studio, you are only able to put information into the report from other Google products, such as google ads and google analytics.
It's easy to connect and the setup is rather straightforward.
The incredibly ridiculous price increase since this March. It's basically the same product but they've decided to charge 3x to 4x more of the original price without any solid reasons to justify the price bump. The connectors are not always stable and I can't really recall how many hours I've wasted just to get something simple to work. Their support isn't the most responsive and also I have such distrust with the sales rep in the US, every time she got back to us, she has a brand new story and didn't really address our price concern, just quoting us more for the price and the discount that she was quoting was ever-changing. We bought a licence for another year but we plan to make a switch to an in-house BigQuery solution.
The problem that it is able to solve is the short initial setup time for the reports in Google Data Studio.
I run a performance marketing agency that relies on data to make better-informed decisions. Having Supermetrics available has eliminated a massive amount of time that we used to extract data manually in a really inefficient way. We rely heavily on Google Data Studio reports for both clients and internally in the agency. The data connection provided by Supermetrics means we can get data from all the platforms we use. We can report, analyze and act on the data in a timely way. We would be lost entirely without the Supermetrics for Google Data Studio tool. When we get stuck, the support from Supermetrics has been top-notch.
Trying to price up the anticipated cost of adding a new data source could be improved. I am lucky to be grandfathered into older pricing. If I want to make changes, I'd need to cancel the current license and incur a significant increase in cost to get the same data but grant access to other team members.
Much quicker reporting. We are supporting decision-making in running ads on platforms like Facebook Ads and Google Ads using data we get from Supermetrics. Ad cost importing for platforms other than Google Ads into Google Analytics, for richer data and more meaningful ROAS comparison by channel.
Supermetrics connects to lots of sources and lets me load things like cost data into one spreadsheet. I save myself lots of time from logging into each of these sources of data and having Supermetrics just update a spreadsheet that I can perform lookups from.
It feels a little pricey, but it's well worth the cost. This saves me hours each week and is much more accurate than me downloading or copying data from multiple places.
Supermetrics helps me aggregate critical business data into spreadsheets that I can share with our executive team. I can also have them automatically update on a scheduled basis.
The useful plugin in google sheets. I like how easy it is to edit queries also from the tab, not only the UI. Scheduling per hour is also beneficial. I'm happy to see a better documentation in place now.
The biggest downside is the pricing. When we pay for an enterprise product, we expect an enterprise solution and support. SM is far from that today and we are actively looking for replacements. The price model doesn't make sense from an agency view. We have interns coming and going and consultants on several levels. There is a "query count" on each account, but most of our users use a handful or zero queries a month, still SM wants full pay. The pricing seems more to be for in house marketing managers or similar, where it's enough with one or two people using the service. In Google Ads the standard change rapidly, SM is still using the Adwords API instead of the upgraded Google Ads API. I know a switch is on the way, but why not just let us choose which one to connect to? It's too slow. The new Ad format has been around since 2018 and we still can't pull the data on them. This is not what I expect from an enterprise service. When using Data studio connector it's been so slow we haven't been able to really use the reports. (I don't know the current status there when I tried it again an account/licence bug restricted me from using it and I gave up) . When we upgraded to enterprise it was mainly for the use of SA 360-connection. It's been buggy and didn't work for 1-2 years. Support was sloppy and in the end it started to work again after we rebuild the whole report (a massive work) or for some other reason. The error was the limitations of the number of queries to pull, but we couldn't troubleshoot if this was SM limits or the clients. (The clients shouldn't have any limits) In this case, we needed the enterprise support we pay for, contacting google to find out where the error was originated. I also would like more features in how to pull data, like using count(keyword) as an example, so we don't need to pull millions of rows to find that kind of value.
We make automated reports and pull data for ad hoc analysis. We also use supermetrics for semi-automated campaign building. We make custom datasets for data studio.
The ease of creating queries using the Supermetrics for google sheets UX. The automation capabilities, and the flexibility of the connectors available are absolute gamechangers.
The pricing of Supermetrics has crept up and up over the years -- it's quite a pricey solution all things considered. We're paying for connectors we'll never use. It'd be so much better if one could create a bespoke package tailored to their exact needs, with very clear pricing / margins for Supermetrics, which would help justify the price.
The automated pull of marketing data into google sheets, at various aggregations and breakdowns, across a variety of DSPs. It's so much easier than bringing directly into google data studio, or a data warehouse.
