Makes managing a store as a single person much simpler. Quite easy to set up a store and to manage it. We have the ability to edit templates. It gives us lots of flexibility, resources and power to design how our online store looks and works. Easy to implement and train people without much computer skills or daily management.
Maybe needs a better tools for managing trade and wholesale businesses. It can take a lot of time and work to build a top quality BigCommerce site. Nothing much to dislike overall.
Time previously spent taking and processing orders can now be allocated to other tasks. Quick product uploads, tying orders and product pricing. We can offer so many things to my customers that are not available on other platforms.
The navigation and menus are very thorough and it is extremely easy to find each category
The sub categories get lengthy when you have to sort through them all
Monitoring and updating my client’s exommerce site
Easy to start selling almost immediately. Set up and themes are self explanatory and it is very easy to connect payment options
Vary hard to customize and search functions are terrible . Support is lacking.
Easy way and inexpensive way to bring new products or ecommerce stores to market
cheaper and has more options that don't take me 14 extra clicks to get to
there is hardly any plugins to choose from
faster service, easier to use and setup therefore i can have new product and such up faster than anywhere else
We migrated from Miva Merchant over a year ago. Miva was too module intensive. Even with the major update they are still trapped in a 3rd party module world. BigCommerce works for us "out of the box". They handled the migration and had very few glitches.
User customizations is my biggest complaint. One case in point so as not to beat this to death. Order Status. First, why is there no "backorder" status? And if you think this is unimportant, become a retailer. But why can't I create a new status? No idea.
Miva charged for every user in admin. Very poor decision on their part. BigCommerce is much more subscriber friendly. Pricing is fair and support is easily and quickly available. I guess the major benefit to us is learning curve for new employees.
It's advanced yet relatively easy to use when it comes to handling sales, shipping, taxes, and customizing the theme. I also like how you can add all of your products in here, then export them to Google Shopping, Ebay, and other online stores, so it's like a central ecommerce hub for much of your online activity.
The themes are a bit old looking and not all of the customizations I wanted to make are possible. Also they did a CDN switch for a while and that threw off customizations I was trying to make for a month.
Selling products online, taking payments, order management, shipping internationally, etc.
We've been using it for about 10 years. Works well.
So many basic functions need an additional app. So many of the apps we use have less functionality than they would if they were used in Shopify. Those apps include Klaviyo, Smile and ShipperHQ. Customer support is good. They have always been helpful and resolved most issues. Last year our monthly rate went up $100 a month! We're a small business and an extra $1200 a year, with no additional functionality that we use was a big hit. Our biggest issue is we have 10 years of customers and orders to move, and that is no easy feat!
Ecommerce for our customers
I can upload as much products as I want and I don't have to upgrade to make my store live
I can't integrate it with my other marketplaces and it's annoyin because I have reached out to customer support but they keep telling me yo use API and i don't even know how to use this
Using API is one of the major problems I have. But benefits wise I'm still counting how much I can get.
The technical support people actually talk like human beings, nt just people giving technical answers without explaining and trying their best to solve problems.
Your company offering services and additions without really having your act together. Having a sales department that acts like a used car company. Not fulfilling promises and blaming it on someone else.
Not much yet.
It was helpful in using this software to make our website stand out
It was a little hard to access certain things
helping us show what we are all about online
It’s accessible and easy to navigate. Platform is easy to use.
It doesn’t sync very well with our inventory system which leads to oversells on website. Customer service never has an idea with what’s going wrong. A lot of glitches.
We have a store credit issue happening right now. Big commerces has yet to solve it or answer us.
I like that it’s such a simple option. It allows anyone to enter the entrepreneurial world with a starting base.
It’s not as easy to use as it should be, being a start up for most people’s businesses they need ease, not complication.
There are many questions answered whithin specific links- as you enter in information, you discover new details about items that would’ve gone unnoticed otherwise.
Bigcommerce has the ability to handle many products, and the template we purchased works very well.
It often takes many steps to list items across different channels and sometimes making basic changes is a clunky process.
Bigcommerce integrates with ECC, which allows us to maintain a single inventory that syncs with Quickbooks point of sale.
Cloud based environment makes it easy for non technical people to manage. Licensing is cheaper than equivalent systems (like Magento 2 Cloud)
Hard to create custom functionality. API is not as robust as needed to create complicated business functions (for example, there is a lack of usable hooks for things like cart functions, and order functions). Many functions need to be done through front end Javascript coding, which isn't suited for normal front end developers. And 3rd party vendor support for extensions can get expensive on a recurring basis.
BigCommerce provided a cost savings on licensing over a Magento 2 Enterprise license. The company wanted to reduce licensing expense and also backend developer headcount.
Big commerce is an okay website. I don't think it is best suited for our needs, but it does the job rather well.
Is not used friendly. Takes a lot of digging to find where things are.
It is good at hosting our site, but we do not thrive there.
Everything looks very attractive and is aesthetically pleasing. The set up guides and videos have improved a lot.
It's very difficult to get customer help when you need to talk to a "real person." You have to have a PIN number before you can actually talk to someone. They also don't alert you before they do an update. An update can change customized settings or cause them to stop working.
They've added many features in the past year or so that help make things much more simple to set up.
Bigcommerce gives you a completely complete set of e-commerce equipment “out of the field” that packs a huge punch. In our view, out of all the different e-trade developers, Bigcommerce offers the most helpful and realistic tools that you'll absolutely use – all covered as part of their monthly bundle. From integration with email newsletter gear (vehicle responders), developing coupons / advertising campaigns, unlimited product variations (e.g. unique t-blouse colorations and sizes), transport and tax configurations, comfy price gateway integrations, handling returns, keep data reporting, social sharing, product desire listing, product critiques, and many others. They surely set you up with a whole lot of tools you need that will help you succeed.
- negative customer service/guide – “Failure to remedy” turned into a not unusual word amongst those, with many clients wondering if the Bigcommerce help personnel is informed enough to handle technical problems at all. loss of 24-hr stay guide on Sundays became an difficulty as nicely. -Bland Templates – a few human beings have complained approximately how average the unfastened -tough to customise – customizing Bigcommerce templates. You want to understand some HTML/CSS if you plan on making any fundamental changes.
even though Bigcommerce already provides you with a complete set of tools (more than a variety of its competitors), need to you experience that you want extra, they have an App keep which you “bolt on” greater advanced equipment to take your keep to the next level. those Apps are created through 1/3 birthday celebration builders, and consist of extra superior gear for accounting, transport, merchandising / advertising, order management, stay chat, e mail advertising, analytics, and so forth. You don’t always want them as Bigcommerce’s simple tools are already enough, but those Apps are in reality accessible while you are geared up to scale your commercial enterprise to the following stage. these tools assist you sell your merchandise greater efficiently, automate your every day mundane duties even in addition, and simply offers loads more firepower with out taking over any extra of a while. some of those Apps are loose, and some are paid. however they're properly worth the charge as they could assist develop your business even as liberating up some time.
Developed from a very solid shopping cart platform, Interspire Shopping Cart, wrapped as a hosted solution to allow any business to start selling online.
Back-end interface wise, not much has been improved after the years.
A solution for quickly set an online store.
Easy to get started and decent looking templates
Extremely difficult to use custom fields and difficult to reach developer support. Help is not well documented
Startup E-commerce site - benefits are ability to start operations easily
Freedom to build/develop custom solutions. It's one of two reasons we left Shopify.
It's been a mixed bag. We came over from Shopify and I feel Shopify is much more user friendly. We were promised a universal store that would allow us to operate globally through a single domain and the delivery of that product has been pushed out several times. Instead of having a single .com site we currently manage and operate 5 instances (.com, .co.uk, .ca, .eu & .au)
Freedom to build custom solutions. We have a custom built report site we built to create data sets unique to our needs. We couldn't do this on Shopify.
