Good uptime. That's it. That is the only good thing I can say about it. It was never down.
Back in 2016 I was with GoDaddy's Quick Shopping Cart. It was lacking in many "modern" features so I looked at upgrading. GoDaddy had started a new shopping cart product, but weirdly it had less features and I was told there were no plans to improve it. Interesting business strategy. So I looked around and decided on BigCommerce because pricing was better than Shopify (at the time) and they were pretty equivalent. After spending 2 months swapping my store over, I launched and a few days later BigCommerce doubled my monthly fees. They did a big song and dance about how they hadn't raised prices in a long time and it had to happen. After a couple years I started getting hit with volume overage charges each month. And finally in July 2021 they contacted me and said the plan I was on was being eliminated and I would have to go on an enterprise tier for $1200/month. This made me highly motivated to find an alternative. I just switched a couple weeks ago to Lightspeed for $140/month for everything I had with BigCommerce, plus full inventory integration with my two businesses and for another $35 (and a one time $3500 developer fee) am able to add my second business website to pull from the same inventory. So much more efficient and dirt cheap compared to BigCommerce. Hey, I just can't afford BigCommerce, right? Well, then I went to cancel. They had to open a case for billing to do the cancellation. 4 days later no word so I called in and the case hadn't been touched. A big song and dance about having to review my contract to see if I am even allowed to cancel. I had to read them the emails I had with their rep in July where I stated I would not sign a contract (because I knew I was not staying for $1200/month). Why make it hard to cancel? Why make the last thing I remember about their company be a poor customer service experience? I am writing this review 100% because of them wasting my time on trying to cancel their service. It's a big decision to go with a ecom provider - don't make it lightly. And if you want to stay in control of costs, don't go with one of the big guys- you want WooCommerce or similar where you can pay for development as needed (and you can afford it) but keep your monthly overhead as low as possible.
I have cut my overhead by $1000/month by cancelling BigCommerce.
You don't need to install a plethora of additional apps to get basic functionality for your store.
BigCommerce has all the characteristics of a sluggish multinational corporation, and that is sad because they're nowhere near the size of one. - No one is empowered to make a decision and do the right thing - Support is the worst of the four e-commerce platforms I have experience of. Tickets get opened, people don't respond to critical issues for days and sometimes weeks - When your site goes down, you'll be told nothing can be done until the next business day (which was three days away over a holiday weekend) - They're obsessed with producing content to reflect success stories but do very little to ensure that their platform is facilitating your success e.g: constant issues with the facebook, eBay and Amazon integrations and after four months we still had not been approved for tagging products on Instagram, within 24 hours of moving to our new provider, we're approved - Arrogance. The arrogance of the management at BigCommerce is appalling. No one takes escalated telephone calls, callbacks are promised and never happen - Platform has too many bugs and is not stable when comparing against other vendors in the space
We didn't solve any business problems with BigCommerce, we only had problems created. The only benefit that I can say we had with this platform was that our page load times were much better than the prior vendor.
ease of use was ok, but lacked a lot of features
Ability to have customers customize products was not featured or not present.
None, had to change course and find a better solution
For a small company, it handles most of our needs in one package. Inventory, sales, analytics, and so much more.
If you have a lot of SKU's pick lists can be tough as you don't have the ability to sort by location.
Selling in multiple markets or to different groups is a breeze with price lists and customer groups.
user experience is easy to use - pricing and promotion updates, manage inventory, analytics, content management, inegration with other platforms
it's not as customizable and analytics are very limited.
easy to use ecommerce platform.
The simplicity and ease of use make Big Commerce the best in my opinion.
I do not feel there are any downsides to Big Commerce.
I can easily list new items and place them on my website, Ebay, Amazon and Facebook Marketplace.
It functions perfectly alongside the parameters set in industries such as firearms and cbd.
Not as customizable or easy to use like shopify.
Allowing to sell tactical gear and excelling in filtering and optimization.
Similar to Shopify but MUCH better for B2B features. Many more features out-of-the-box. We can get by with far fewer apps than Shopify. Great customization options. The basic version does many of the things Shopify Plus does, at much less cost. Avalara works with all versions.
Not much to dislike so far. Only community help and app are a bit less than Shopify. We would like more than 600 variations for products but it is far better than Shopify's 100 variant limit.
We needed a strong base for a B2B site and coming from SuiteCommerce Advanced and Shopify this is the best of the three. We needed many features out-of-the-box, instead of having to be nickel-and-dimed for many third-party apps like Shopify, or writing many custom apps.
Support managing large number of products, I particularly love the ability to manage via exports and imports of CSV files. Great functionality provided to customize website using PageBuilder and third-party apps. User documentation and real-time customer support is terrific.
Some customizations require advanced knowledge of HTML and CSS.
Displaying current inventory levels for our large catalog file - we use a third-party app to update available inventory from our core Sage database. Displaying available inventory has increased online sales, particularly during the current supply chain challenges.
Customer and Sales Support is by far the best. The product is robust with lots of features and excellent apps that plug in. I've been a customer for many years and have no plans for switching. Thank you Big Commerce for making eCommerce easy.
There's really nothing to dislike that I can think of right now. I mean pricing could always be lower it's a little bit expensive but you get what you pay for I guess.
Making it easier for customers to do business with us which is driving sales.
user friently , easy to navigate, very simple layout
some features may be added, dashboard could be made more user friendly
Pre-Built Tools compared to any other eCommerce platform helps to reduce Costs While Growing my Business offers Immediate Access To Hundreds Of Features
I don't have to wait to speak to a knowledgeable person who I think is from the US. I am not opposed to foreign customer service, but this is easy and helpful!
I have heard from Cora about a short survey way too many times.
We feel safe and protected from hackers etc. with our Big C account. The site syncs to our shipping service well, our payment accounts and keeps me in the loop.
The use of the Big Commerce platform has been seamless for us. The updates and the suggestion have made our online shop very successful.
We hope that in the future, we have access to other payment options that will help our business grow further.
Keeping track of our inventory and updating the store products can take time. It does have a seamless approach.
No glitches, reliable, fast and the support team are quick to respond with any queries we have.
We are approaching 16,000 categories and this is one area slowing us down.
Easy to refund and replace orders. Works well alongside another commerce program.
There are a lot of plug ins that are available.
It can be complex to make some changes, especially if changing the theme of your website. Support is there to help, but it may take a "professional" to make some changes.
No real problems, other than sometimes changes are complex to complete. We like the availability of the add ons to the product pages. It makes it easy for customers to choose.
Easy to navigate smooth interface that is self-explanatory with many free add ons and others at minimal cost with free trials. Integrates with Tax, Channel Advisor, and other well-known software.
It does not integrate with UPS, FEDEX and USPS without a paid add on.
It is our website ecommerce solution.
Ease of use and professional. Very seo friendly
Contacting support could be a little easier
Having a storefront and other chanels
BigCommerce has built up an oversimplified programming that is permitting little and fair size organizations to move at scale. We've had the option to learn and adjust new procedures as their group keeps on opening new capacities to designers and as they push advancement in their application market. Quick and solid applications will be vital to building and keeping up the following advancement of online business organizations and having that foundation set up will be urgent in the years to come. The functionalities that BigCommerce was creating permitted us to run a more lean and smooth activity while as yet guaranteeing we offered the best client experience conceivable. As a SMB, keeping up our operational principles at scale is need. We would prefer not to abandon our reliable clients as we keep on developing. BigCommerce was a conclusive decision to guarantee we keep up that norm.
There are exceptionally restricted choices to edit your landing page, and basically little to no choices to alter your shop pages. It requires a few seconds to load the page content, and javascript running on an item page may not run for 3-4 seconds after the client lands! Not ideal The email proofreader is really out of line but we got help with that. We ended up using another mail provider and integration into into Bigcommerce when done. Its absolutely impossible to send a test email either, or maybe because I do not understand the features accordingly as they are just too many to pay attention to.
At the point when we collaborated with Bigcommerce, they were a fresher rival on the lookout. Some comparative organizations had the option to offer functionalities that were restricting to our underlying development through internet business. Being a blocks and concrete based business since 1978, we had a large number of functionalities expected to stay aware of our actual areas. Despite the fact that they couldn't offer these highlights out of the entryway, they rushed to get them actualized and worked intimately with us to determine our issues.
Everything is in place. You can have a store and blog. Site themes are very neat. Also, they do not automatically cut off your account if you miss the invoice for the month.
can't really think of anything major. It is annoying how often I have to change my password. Also when typing the font does not come out right sometimes.
Easy processes with my customers. They see a very professional site and it makes them wish to continue shopping with us.
I remember those early times, starting my business was really difficult. I tried to build websites and add my products, tried to keep up with the complexity and lots of theme options some of which you dont even understand how they work. But then I found bigcommerce where they have perks like no limits on the products you can upload, help extend free trial until you're ready to try a custom domain, setting up websites is smooth and easy, and if you need help, the customer support is right there to help you asap.. no waiting for bots to connect you and all the other annoying things other websites do! Interms of setting up mainly "A Store" Big commerce is THE ONE!.
There's really nothing to dislike. They love and support you get from bigcommerce is enough to not even take their mistakes into consideration (thats if they even have any mistakes). Bigcommerce always tend to fix whatever problems you are encountering no matter when you contact them from morning to past midnight, there's always someone to help. There's really nothing to dislike. Not even the prices are expensive its all just right.
Right now I don't have any problems only that some core apps which I would like to set up my website and establish my products on their markets, are not available yet. But everything is a step and hopefully soon they'll integrate these apps and offer more and more perks for customers. As for benefits.. there are alot. Updating website/store themes daily, free shipping settings, fast and reliable customer services, the list could go on and on.
